Festival Tour

The Buddhist Festival or Tshechus are one of the prime examples of the living culture of Bhutan that many have come to admire and treasure. It takes place throughout the country on different dates and are held in everydistrict in honour of Guru Rinpoche, who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan during 8th Century. It lasts up to three to four days in which a series of highly stylized masked dance rituals are performed. They are important religious festivals and it is believed that by attending one gains merits and blessings. They are not somber formal religious affairs, but occasions to get together, renew acquaintances and make merry. It is also a kind of social gathering where thousands of people gather in their beautiful and most expensive attire to witness Tshechu.
